My name is Lee Basset and I am proud to run Swim-1st. I have been a fully qualified A.S.A Swimming Instructor for over 10 years. I also come from a swimming background and have participated in many swimming galas; believe it or not Butterfly was my favourite stroke!
My career started in the leisure centre industry with a large amount of that time swim teaching. I spent one year teaching in Australia (one of the leaders in world swimming) and have coached swimming in three pools in Sydney alongside some highly-skilled instructors and one of their national coaches.
I hold up-to-date First Aid and Lifesaving qualifications which I also teach.
I enjoy teaching swimming as I believe it is a life skill that everyone should enjoy learning and taking part.
Triathlon is becoming a big passion of mine; I started competing this year and will pursue the Olympic distances next year as well as try and beat my sprint times from this year.
Grant has been teaching swimming for over 8 years and also comes from a leisure background. I have known Grant for the whole time of his leisure career and I am very pleased that he accepted the offer to teach for Swim-1st. The parents are always complimenting his teaching and notice how well and quick their children progress with him.
Grant also has his Level 3 coaching badge and is the Head Swim Coach for Swim-1st Triathlon Club. In his spare time you can see from his photo that he enjoys participating in Wakeboarding and is pretty good at it, when he stays on his feet!
